The Dead Son

"In Luke 7:11-17 we read of ""The Dead Son."" Jesus encounters a funeral procession—a widow’s only son has died. With no husband and now no son, she faces a future of grief and hopelessness. But then Jesus steps in and speaks life: “Young man, I say to you, arise!” Immediately, the boy sits up, and hope is restored. The crowd is filled with awe, glorifying God, realizing that Jesus has power over death itself. This miracle foreshadows Palm Sunday, when Jesus enters Jerusalem—not just to heal, but to conquer sin and death forever. The people cry out, “Hosanna!”, seeking salvation, and Jesus answers by offering new life. Just as He raised the widow’s son, He calls us to come alive in Him today.
