The Defeated Disciple

Pastor Josh closes out the Come Alive series today with Peter’s journey from denial to restoration, which shows what it means to come alive in Christ. After denying Jesus three times, Peter likely felt defeated and unworthy. Yet, in John 21:15-19, Jesus meets him with love, not condemnation. By asking Peter, “Do you love me?” Jesus restores and revives his purpose. True life in Christ isn’t about perfection but surrendering to His grace, even after failure. Jesus not only forgives Peter but commissions him to “Feed my sheep,” calling him to live with renewed passion and purpose. Like Peter, we all face failure, but Jesus invites us to truly come alive and rise again in His strength, letting go of shame and boldly walking in our calling. Our past doesn’t define us—our Savior does.
